Planting Trees in Burundi
Help us stop erosion and combat deforestation in Gitega Burundi!
Father Florent Rugigana, a Franciscan priest, has launched a project to plant 120,000 trees in the deforested hills around Gitega. This will preserve farmland by preventing erosion and provide future sources for wood and fruit. He is currently raising seedling in small greenhouses and mobilizing youth groups and women to take on the planting. HIP is raising funds to cover seedling care and planting. We hope to have several volunteers travel from the US in June to help with planting efforts.
