The picture to the left demonstrates why the current collaborative project effort is being funded through High Impact Projects as an Emergency Relief Project "Children Head of Household", which is coordinated in country through a local non-profit group, BCET in the Musha district one-hour east of the capital city Kigali in Rwanda. It was this area where the initial spark ignited, which lead to the war in 1994 known to the world as the Rwandan Genocide. The aftermath left behind in this region alone nearly 756 widows, their children and the additional tragedy of orphans who have become the head of their own households either because of poverty or HIV, in which case the local villagers leave the orphans to fend for themselves. The only shelter an orphan can expect to construct are the traditional small round mud huts with grass roofs pictured here, which in the rainy season become a miserable existence. These children must not only maintain an otherwise careless structure for their well being, but they also have to provide for ever aspect of their daily lives with little or no help from the village. This means food, clothing and personal care.
The Past - This example of a Children Head of Household Mud Hut is the way many orphans currently live, waiting for either emergency relief funds for a temporary larger Waddle Mud Hut or a permanent Brick Home.
The Present - Children Head of Household are putting the finishing touches on an emergency relief funded Waddle Mud Hut, which is larger with a used tin roof.

Temporary Relief Funding - Intermediate Phase
HIP collected as little as 400.00 USD's $ to build an emergency shelter known as a waddle mud hut a larger structure, new sleeping mats and supplies, which marginally upgrades living standards. The living conditions these orphan children are living in must be improved upon without delay, as there are more than one rainy season throughout Rwanda.
A Permanent Solution Through Project Relief Funding - Final Phase
The Children Head of Household Project will continue in the Musha district for years to come as there are many orphans living this tragedy everyday. The waddle mud hut structure can be improved upon by raising funds in the amount of 13,082.75 USD's $, which will allow for the building of a new structure made of bricks and metal roofing with real windows and doors, as pictured to the left. Each time this planned structure is built it allows for demolitions of three mud huts and those orphans can begin living better lives. These plans layout basic design parameters for the newer brick structure and can be realized through generous donations. You can help. Please donate on-line today.
